Best Easter Ever

Best Easter Ever

When we lived in Dallas, we had season passes to a local amusement park. It became our go-to on slow days; ride some rides, walk a ton, wear out two little boys, and a good-quality family time had by all.

If you’ve ever been on one of those rides, you’ve heard the operator on the mic explaining how to have a great experience…usually with all the enthusiasm of the adults in a Peanuts cartoon. It’s monotone, forgettable, easy to tune out. But here’s the thing, they’re actually telling you exactly how to have a great ride. We just miss it.

Holy Week is like that too.

The Epic Conclusion

The Epic Conclusion

Years ago Sarah and the boys and I watched all the Marvel cinematic movies.  You know, The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, etc…It was 22 movies over the course of 11 years spanning stories that take place over decades and decades…and we knocked it out in a few months during 2020.  When the final movie of the original journey wrapped up with Endgame in 2019 there were lots of people that just assumed they could go see that movie without seeing 20 other films.

Yeah…you can…but that is like skipping to the end and watching the series finale of M*A*S*H or reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows or simply watching the Super Bowl without putting in the time to journey all the way there.

What I Notice.

What I Notice.

I recently started working out again. I go through seasons of running or working out regularly and then I take breaks. I have lots of good excuses I tell myself in those seasons of not being as active…but that’s really all they are…just excuses. Other things take my time and attention, things that I think are priority float to the top of my to do list and caring for my health takes a back seat.
