“Hark! the Herald Angels Sing” Hymn 192
Benediction Gary Wingo
“Christ Himself was like God in everything. But He did not think being equal with God was something to be used for His own benefit. But He gave up His place with god and made Himself nothing. He was born as a man and became like a servant.” Philippians 2:6-7 NCV
“In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to put our HOPE in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the Message of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit…” Ephesians 1:11-13 – Pg, 1815
“We have this HOPE as an ANCHOR for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19-20 – Pg. 1866
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths. Ask where the Good Way is and walk in it, and you will find REST for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16 – Pg. 1183

Did you know YOU were made for Glory?
Recently, Eugene Petersen passed away – many of you know him as the one responsible for THE MESSAGE, a paraphrase of God’s Word. He coined phrases like “Learn the unforced rhythms of Grace“, from Matthew 11:28-30. But the one Scripture that really woke me up, rekindling my soul tis the truth that I am made for Glory by the power of Christ in me – Ephesians 1:4-6:
“Long before He laid down Earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His LOVE, to be made whole and holy by His LOVE. Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure He took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the CELEBRATION of His lavish gift-giving by the hand of His Beloved Son.” Ephesians 1:4-6 – The MESSAGE
You and I have been lavishly endowed by Christ to experience the depth of our Father’s love! It’s not that He simply “loved” us, but the overwhelming fact that we were, before time and creation existed, settled on as a focus of God’s love. Simply put, that means, because of the Grace of Jesus Christ, we have been adopted into Father God’s family, made whole and holy by the Holy Spirit Himself. And our Lord actually took great pleasure, great joy in designing our salvation and transformation into “jars of clay” containing the very Glory of Christ Himself!
So, CELEBRATE! Live that Glory! We have been included through Christ in us, the Hope of Glory! You and me – loved outrageously, purposed powerfully, secured forever, arms wrapped around us – our Heavenly DAD generously lavishing His Grace and Truth upon us. All because our Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit desire a personal, intimate relationship with you and me. So indeed, celebrate – you are loved. Now that’s GLORY!

Today, the weather is cool, bright and sunny – belying the fact that a few miles east of here, people are fighting for their very lives.
I find myself emotional, thankful, frustrated, saddened, and even full of Joy – all at once.
Thankful we didn’t face the brunt of Hurricane Michael… saddened by the reality of people losing everything they owned. And today, after the storm has passed on, there are people in our area, at the same time enjoying the beauty of a South Walton day on the beach… and people east of here doing their best to just survive.
Just east there are 1st responders doing their best in Search and Rescue operations – hoping to find anyone trapped by the storm’s destruction. I watch the helicopters flying back and forth taking the injured to hospitals west of here, praying for each flight and the ones inside.
On Sunday, October 14th at 10 a.m., the Chapel conducted a Special Service. We had a time of thanksgiving, gathering to listen together for God’s Voice and encouragement. Here’s is a video of this service
In this sobering time of stark realities, I find myself most grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, who stood against storms in nature and those in our own souls and did not, has not in His Almighty Love deserted us! And I am comforted by the Words of Psalm 23 which apply so well to circumstances – dire or joyous:
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside the still, quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me down the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemy.
You anoint my head with oil – my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
This day is the time to Love, Listen, Respond wisely when the Holy Spirit says “GO!” and PRAY:
“O Lord, my Lord – help me to listen to Your Voice and choose MERCY.”
