Announcing Our New Pastor!
Dear Friends of the Chapel at Seaside,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce that Andrew Beard will be our new Pastor.
Andrew and Sarah Beard, along with their two sons, Foster (8) and Keating (7), are from Dallas, Texas, which has been their home the past ten years. Andrew is presently the associate minister at Highland Park United Methodist Church. For seven years, Andrew served as director of the college ministry and Sarah served as associate college minister. In addition to being worship leaders and teachers at HPUMC, they led the charge to re-create a college ministry and renovate a dilapidated facility to become a thriving ministry for students in Dallas.
Andrew and Sarah both grew up in Missouri and met at Missouri State University in Springfield, where both were worship leaders. Since 2005, they have been leading worship, teaching, preaching, visioning, and creating inside the church while together working in next-generational ministry, young adult ministry, marriage ministry, and beyond in Missouri and Texas. They have a drive to innovate and improve, to help people experience restoration and redemption, and to see people experience transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Before his full-time ministry career, Andrew worked in radio and was an improv comedy host. In addition to full-time ministry, Sarah has operated her own photography studio and worked for an international nonprofit. She also makes charcuterie boards.
Andrew achieved his Master of Theological Studies with a Biblical emphasis from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Andrew and Sarah married fifteen years ago at Inlet Beach, Florida, where Sarah has been vacationing for the past forty years. Andrew and Sarah believe in the power of the Gospel, hospitality, relationships, and beauty. They are excited to be a part of The Chapel at Seaside and have a passion for impacting their community and beyond through worship and service. They believe that living and loving like Christ to build, proclaim, and expand the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven is a responsibility in which we all can take part.
As Andrew and Sarah transition their ministry from Dallas to the 30-A communities, we are working to identify opportunities for them to participate in Chapel worship services, affording them the opportunity to meet people. We will communicate those opportunities when we set the dates. We expect their final move to the South Walton area to occur in December.
The Board’s search process was insistent on selecting a Pastoral candidate who had demonstrated in his or her past experiences the ability to transform lives, engage in missional outreach efforts, and present Christ-centered uplifting messages in worship services filled with great music. Importantly, the candidate must also have demonstrated the ability to create programs that touch the full spectrum of those who desire the Chapel as their home church—people of all age groups, local or visitor, Seasider or from a neighboring community. Lastly, the candidate must appreciate and specifically want to be an integral part of the unique 30-A beach community.
We look forward to you meeting Andrew and his family.
Grace and Peace,
The Chapel Board of Directors
